engine temperature gauge seems to not be working

well my new to me truck seems to always think that it is warmed up to the half way mark, even when I first start it. Could this just be a bad temperature sensor? I believe I have spotted it, is it in the rear of the intake manifold of the 3.0 v6?

yes its right beside the cold start time injector switch on the back of the manifold. should be the closest one to the driver side.
