Engine Swap Problem
1st time engine swap. Drove 3rd Gen 01Runner into garage. Vehicle was left in neutral w/ E brake on. Engine cranked by hand no problem. Removed old engine. Replaced TB & water pump on donor vehicle engine cranked by hand no problem. Installed donor engine into runner. Turned crank to align machined key slots in Torque Convert and slid into postion. Tightened all bolts on tranny. Put all parts back together. Tried to crank by hand and won't budge. Check to see if its in neutral
still won't turn. I can push the car in neutral. I am lost as to why it won't turn. Any ideas appreciated.

Did you remember to connect the wires going to the transmission that come out when you remove the engine ??Neutral safety Switch ??
Your new engine was the same year out of a automatic transmission ??
Something forgot when plugging in the wire harness connectors ??
Something simple like a poor ground ??
Discharged battery

Did the starter come off and is it back on? Just looking for something other than the tranny. Have you hooked the battery back up? Did the donor engine come out of an Automatic transmission vehicle?
Logic tells me it should turn by hand, which tells me my logic is faulty...

Pulled starter still wouldn't turn. Loosened tranny bolts and tranny moved back the distance of the key way on the torque converter. We'll see if that force on the tranny creates a problem. Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate it.
