Engine Swap

I have a 91 Toyota Pickup SR5 4WD in which my son destroyed the 3.slow engine. I am looking to put in the 3.4L engine. Has anyone done this swap that can give me an idea of just what I am getting myself into? I have done several internet searches on this but now I am looking for someone who has done it personally. Thanks

If you do a search on the forum here there is tons of info on that exact subject.

First, fab.

Second, no on here has one yet. There has been a lot of banter, but no hard answers. ORS is the shop that does them most often, sell a kit, and seem to generally be helpful. If you are serious about it, ring them. If not, search PBB.

There was one guy who posted about actually doing it himself. He said he mostly posts on the off-road.com site so try a search here for his name so you can find him over there.

Thanks for the help guys. I had actually seen that thread on another forum. I was glad to see it on this forum as well. The biggest problem I was having was cost. The cheapest that I could find a 5VZ was around $2500 and that was for a used engine. I have actually contacted ModMan and he gave me some other places to try. One in Alabama, they wanted $1900 (shipping included). And one in Washington, the best price I have found yet - $1250 plus $250 shipping. The place in Missouri didn't have any engines right now. It is amazing that the further west you go the cheaper the engines seem. I have a couple more places to look. If anyone else knows where I can get an engine please let me know.
