Engine misfire help!
Hey got a 97 Tacoma with 2.7 engine. The other day the truck all of a sudden started running rough and the check engine light came on and started flashing during acceleration. Took it to advance auto and he said had a misfire from cylinder 1. So I changed the plugs and the wires and that didn't help so I tried the coil pack and it didn't help either. Don't know what else to try now, the guy at advance said it could be a burnt value but I don't know how to check that. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

the timing is computer controlled. every engine has a timing belt or timing chain. if they stretch out, could cause misfire issues.
has the timing belt been changed? usually when done professionally there will be a sticker on the cover stating date and mileage when it was changed. if it hasnt been done, you should probably get it done. a brokent belt/chain could cause valve to piston impact and you'll need a new engine.
with that many miles, a burnt exhaust valve is a possibility.
your best bet is to do a compression test
