Recently my 1994 SR5 v-6 4runner had its head gasket replaced. When I picked up the truck and drove home I smelled the heavy odor of exhaust fumes coming into the cabin through the air vents. When I open the hood and stand on the drivers side with the engine running, I can really smell a sweet odor of gas fumes. Does anyone know why this would happen?

It is really obvious. In fact, I keep the air vent on recirculate to keep outside air from getting into the cabin while I am driving because the odor gives me a headache.

Any help that you can give would be appreciated.

I don't know if this is your problem, but I just had my HG done also and smelled the fumes under the hood...mine was a leak at the fuel rail....easy fix
