ECU Compatability for 4runners

ECU Compatability for 4runners
Does anyone know if an ECU from a 4runner built between 8908-8911 would work in one built between 9008-9108. I know it is for a 4X4 with A/T but not sure what the downside would be. I also know the part numbers are different.
