drl on Canadian 2 Gen. 4 runner

I would like to disconnect my day time running lights on my 1990 4runner. I searched all the forums but nobody actually shows how to do it. I only know that the modular is behind stereo in the dash but thats it. When I start her up everything lights up even my dash lights. The only time I flick my light switch is to activate my high beams. I already went through a couple of head-lights in a year. If any Canadian 2 gen.4runner owners done this please tell me how.

Looking at the wiring diagrams it should be possible to do by disconnecting the ground at the DRL resistor. That's the square thing on the driver side inner fender, just behind the coil, with the "HOT" label on it. The DRLs are grounded through this resistor to make the voltage lower at the lights. If the ground is interrupted, either by a switch or wire cutters, the lights won't go on.
This is only a theory, so you may want to just disconnect it temporarily before doing anything permanent. The green/white wire is from the lights and the black/white is the resistor ground, though it shouldn't really matter which one is disconnected.

And if something catches fire or blows up you didn't get this advice from me
