odd question, but what are your opinions on redrilling the shock buckets to accept Tundra Coilovers? yea, its the "el cheapo" option, but right now i cant afford another 250 shipped for new top plates...

for those that dont know, the Tundra top plates have the stud holes about .25" off from the tacoma plates... im thinking that i can kinda "slot" the shock bucket... dont think it would reduce structural rigidity, do you?

 

Why do you need new top hats? Why can't you transfer yours over to the tundra shocks?

Before your buy new ones, just ask around for them here. I managed to get a pair for free from a nice guy over on T4R.org. He had replaced his suspension, and didn't need his old ones. Mice were really rusty, so I didn't want to reuse them. I bet you could get a pair for cheap or free here.

 

Because the coilovers he has are Kings. Not OEM. So swapping top hats is not an option.


Troy, I dont see a big issue really. Just use some washers to spread the load.

Structurally speaking, it should be sound because most of the load being placed on the bucket is verticle, not horizontal...
