One ticket for rolling thru a stop sign while turning right ($68), another for 23mph over the limit ($140ish) and another for street racing although i was technically spectating but there is no longer any distinction in Florida because of the new laws, the last ticket cost me $500 for lawyer (it's a criminal offense now) and $180 for court costs to get out of it. All within 8 months (very lucky to not have any points on my license), after that i decided if i wanted to keep my license i better buy a nice slow pickup.

it's called cruise control.....lol
How do you think I keep my speed out of the 90s on long drives on the freeway when there are no other cars? (I make it a point to make sure my 4runner is smooth as butter at all times driving. The sound deadening also completely kills road and wind noise so you really cant tell your speed outside of the speedo and other cars.) That is why I use my cruise control a LOT....

No way man
Cruising with the windows down, Magnaflow exhaust purring, If my foot wasn't on the peddle i would start going into spasms
Until and unless you've had a V8 under hood and heard and felt that acceleration it's easy to say slow down. Too hard for me to resist. Now everytime i start my Tacoma and hear that weenie little starter turn over i'm reminded of what i'm driving and can take it easy and not get into trouble.
That Stang gave a nice roar everytime i started it and just begged to be driven hard. Then Mr. Policeman would say lookie here boy
which made me do a :pat:

heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeres the time slip
I went last night, and even though i burned out in first and second, i still managed to run a 14.6 at 96mph. And no there were no 11 second mustangs anywhere around the track, but there was a mustang that got so worried about beating my truck that he blew his rearend when he was warming up the tires and had to push that ugly orange pile of crap out of the lane
so anyways heres the slip

Congrats on getting to the track and being honest about your time. I hope you do realize my GT ran a 14.1 (i'm not that hot of a driver and can't not spin for the life of me) stock, so you were at least within half a second of me (impressive for a pickup), thats good for about 2-3 car lengths. I assume that you know 01 Cobras run low 13's, 03's run 12's stock. I'll give you credit for going but my original BS call about beating a GT or Cobra remains unchanged.
I hope you had a blast doing it, i know i got sweaty palms everytime i went and almost forgot to roll up my window a couple of times. The neatest thing about the track is that with street tires you get less traction than you do on the street, so it can be fun chirping the tires going into 3rd at about 70mph. I got squirrely a couple of times going into 2nd by shifting hard, that was a bit unnerving with both tires spinning and the car sidestepping at 40mph. with another car next to you and a wall on the other side. Definite adrenaline rush.
I'll tell you the truth though about my first time taking my old GT to the track, i ran a 15.something because i disintegrated the tires and was scared to bounce of the rev limiter. My ego was the size of a peanut after that run.
Thankfully i got a bit better and had much better times after that.

BONE STOCK N/A MUSTANG 5.0 or 03 GT THOUGH, lol.
Its common place to warm up your
tires so they stick better, I seriously doubt he was
worried bout your slow ass lil truck,
j/k Your funnydude, 14.6 is good, in reality you might actually beat a (fast) honda civic though, lol!
Really though, its a damn respectable time and I would be interested in
seeing your mod list, what does your truck weigh and how come
you dont list your mods in your sig?!
Sweet Cobra pic Icepick, where in s. Fla are you? Remember Storman Norman?
He's in Ft. Lauderdale, he had some of the first 8 second fox body stangs.
I used to live in pembroke pines, I had a house in silverlakes, before that I lived in S.Miami.
Now im back in NYC, ahhhrrgghhhh.

FYI ~
From what I have witnessed here at the track in AZ, the new GT's run anywhere from a high 14 to a mid 15, usually settling around a 14.9. Those are REAL world numbers, not mag times that mean nothing.

ok heres the straight dope
my truck gets no traction-- im not kidding, thats why i cant brag about my 1/4mile time. The thing is, my truck has 80 more horsepower than a stock 5.0 and 55 more than a 03 stock GT. I know that mustangs and camaro's grab way better than my light assed little yoter, but they cant hang once i get going. I didnt want to run out and get drag slicks so that my truck could do a wheel stand or something, im not that into racing ( just building ).
notice that i almost hit 100mph--- cars that run 12's hit 100mph, i gots the power just dont gots the go.
as for mods--
2nd gen supercharger
deckplate ( well, big ass square hole cut in front of the airbox )
dual in-tank supra fuel pumps
supra MAF
5" intake
trd headers
custom 2.5" exhaust with flowmaster
370cc lucas injectors
SAFC
governor bypass mod
trd limited-slip rear end
thats about it for now
oh and the dyno chart shows that i peaked at 298HP on 89octane

The only time a burnout is necessary is on slicks. When I ran Nitto Drag Radials on my 95 SI, my 1/4 mile went from 15.4@90MPH to 15.1 @ 92.9 MPH. Slicks work.

Cars that run 100mph do not runs 12's.
My stock 02GT went 98mph at 14.1 that is a real world time, it's not mag racing or anything else and im not a good driver either and that is not power shifting, that is clutch shifting. It will run 13.9 powershifting.

well im not believing you this time dude--
( how can you say that 100mph is not around a high 12 sec 1/4? )
Thats not something im bragging about, thats how it is... a corvette z06 ran a 12.2 at 106 the very same night i was there. You must have a special mustang or something because i raced an 03 GT and it did NOT beat me. In fact, i raced 4 mustangs-- but they were all different. Maybe at your track mustangs are faster-- i didnt see a dial in less than 14.1 on the street legal lane. So maybe mustangs are slower in CA than on the east coast or something??? ( or maybe my truck is faster than you think?)

Guys
remember its power, gearing, traction and weight.
I have a guy on video at Palmdale that runs a 12 sec 1/4 mile at mid-90 MPH trap speed, and another that runs a 12 second 1/4 mile at 121MPH.
The first was a really light custom that popped a wheelie off the line, and the second was an Integra Turbo.

I'm sorry but, 100mph is only good for high 13seconds. I have no idea what kind of elevation you're at, but Moroso motorsports park is only a hundred feet or so above sealevel i guess. Maybe that's where this difference is coming at. I'm sitting here looking at a couple of slips and the guy next to me (i believe it was a buddy of mine that has gear, pullies, exhaust, drag radials etc on his 01 GT) and he ran a 13.598 at 101.43. I also have another slip of someone next to me who ran 14.035 at 101.77 so that's where i'm coming from.
p.s I'm sure you know this but there is a big difference between 101mph and 106mph in the 1/4 mile.

Usually, high mph and low times indicate a fast car that has/had problems coming off the line. You CAN associate mph with time, but you have to understand that to go by that relationship the driver and car must be performing at its best. For instance, I run an 11.27 at 122 in my stang, on street tires (18s). That means I'm not getting the most out of my launch. (I spin off the line, and feather the clutch) I launch around 2500 rpm (suck!) and ride it out. On slicks, I am guessing it would run 11.0 (or faster) at 110-115 mph. With slicks, I could just dump the clutch at 5500 rpm and launch. (While praying to the tranny gods my stock T5 tranny will live to see the drive home
). I have seen cars, with the right setup and good drivers, pull 11s at 105-110ish etc. When a street car pulls a really good time, lets say 11.5- and has a low trap speed- say 105, that indicates to me the driver is doing a really good job making the car go down the strip, and that the car is at its absolute best. It had a perfect launch, did not spin nor miss a gear, etc. My point being, it is not entirely correct to say that a certain mph = a certain time or vice versa. Also, don't do smoky burnouts on street tires, just drive around the water like your supposed to. I spin em over once or twice to get any trash off of em tho-
