As requested I have posted some info about Downey's front truss and some iamges to boot.


As mentioned in Downey's 2001 catalog page 96

1986-95 4WD pickup and 4runner IFS front truss

You have probably notice the IFS lower control arms swing from below the frame on vertical drop arms. Once the lower control arms become totally bottomed-out in a violent or unexpected off road maneuver, the lower control arms, working through the leverage of the vertical drop will throw the front-end out of alignment, and prevent realignment until after your visit a frame ship, The front side of your lower control arms has a factory installed tie bar. The rear side of the problem area and needs the Downey truss. This is a silver zinc plated tie bar with mounting bolts. Drilling is required.

Downey Off-Road's IFS 4WD control arm truss brace is a must item for any off-pavement four-wheel drive user -- especially trucks with oversize tires. Frame shops often see stock suspension systems with their lower control arms and vertical frame supports spread apart. This truss aims at protecting your truck's frame, suspension and steering linkage.

So the question everyone wants to get at: how much for the truss?

 

39.95 USD in 2002

Today the cost is around 45 USD call Downey to get an accurate price.

There number is 562-919-9494.

 

Reasonable enough to make it my next mod on my list.

 

if you plan on instilling a lift anytime soon then you may want to hold off on installing the truss. My superlift kit came with one piece control arm drops/truss, so if you have a kit that comes like that then you won't need the downey one.
