DIY ARB Install Gone Bad
#21
i use a floor jack in the middle, hi-lift on the side, bottle jack on cement blocks in on the bottom...i just use whatever is necessary.
The first time i looked at my bumper i was pissed because i thought it wouldnt work, but then i realized the necessity to jack and shift and twist before they all got perfect.

Well since I've only got a floor jack I guess I can just use that...I have been meaning to buy a bottle jack to keep in the rig and haven't gotten around to it...maybe this is the time.
Thanks for the help man, I'll keep trying tomorrow with my buddies and see what I can do.
Thanks again guys, you guys rock!

OK guys, I got it mounted without drilling anything. But I'm missing 4 bolts, I got it safe enough to drive around to school and then I am going to take it to my local 4x4 shop and have them do the rest of it for me.
I'll have a pic of it up in a minute.

*UPDATE*
I've got it all tightened up with all the bolts I was able to make fit in it I hooked it up to my dads truck and had him pull me up my driveway and it held up just fine...I think its gonna be fine.
I took it to my buddies shop and they ended up having to use a freaking forklift to get it all lined up...it was crazy. We've got all the bolts in except for 2 because my frame has been bent in the front as I suspected a while back. You can even see where the metal is cracked slightly on one of the corners.
But I think its as sturdy as it needs to be...even if I'm winching it will have plenty of bolts in it to make it sturdy enough. We tugged on it with the forklift and it didn't budge. I'm going to do some more testing tonight or this weekend to make sure its safe.
Thanks,
Fink

Mine was like that at first too. A body shop put in on after I trashed my front bumper/fender on a camauflaged telephone pole (that was smart :pat: ) Anyway, when I pulled it off to mount the winch, putting it back on I was able to align it better, then just had to retap the holes where it mounts to the frame b/c they had rusted too much to screw bolts into them.

I tried to install my new ARB bumper this past weekend but the four bolts that hold the bumper to the frame are all heavily rusted. Hit them with PB Blaster a week in advance a couple of times but that didn't seem to help loosen them up. Since these bolts are supposed to be re-used to install the ARB, I don't want to just shear the bolt heads off and be stuck drilling them out and re-tapping.
I have read about heating bolts up with a torch to get them off. Do you heat them until they glow red and turn while they are hot or let them cool down first? I haven't tried this method before and I really would like to get the bolts out without breaking them off inside the nuts.

Just heat them up (They dont need to glow) and than hit it with some more PB Blaster while they are hot (seems to suck the PB Blaster right in.
Than try taking em off again. a Torch allways works for me.
