Distributor Timing Question

I just installed a new distributor in my 3VZ-E.
On purpose I installed it 1 or 2 degrees more clockwise than it was before (i.e. I turned the distributor a bit more to the right).

Have I advanced or retarded my timing?

It depends on the rotation direction of the distributor. If the distributor turns clockwise and you turn the distributor housing counter clockwise then you will have advanced the timing.

If your distributor rotor turns clockwise, you will have retarded the timing. If your rotor turns counter-clockwise, you will have advanced the timing.

My rotor turn counter clock wise and I turned the distributor clockwise so I guess I advanced it a bit.

Thanks for the info.
