Distributor grease?
I am planning on doing a partial rebuild on a distributor for my truck. Should I put some kind of grease on the mechanical advance? What kind?

di-electric grease might be ok... i wouldnt mess with it too much though... grease has a tendecy to accumulate dirt and grit, and this cuases binding and premature failure due to wear

i never knew it had grease in there. i'll take a look at my FSM and see if it shows anything.

I just got a factory service manual for my truck and it says to put grease in the shaft that has the rotor on it, but it does not say what type of grease.

i figure some hi-temp wheel bearing grease would do the trick.

Thanks for the replies. I think I have some hi-temp wheel bearing grease, so I will use some of that.
