On the contrary has anyone enabled/added DRL's on their Tacoma or 3rdGen 4runner?

Yes, There are two relays. You only need to cut the wire from one of them which you allready did.

When you have the HID's, the reduced voltage for the DRL's would cause the HID's to strobe.

well i cant figure it out. hopefully it wont cause any problems when i get the hid kit. 4-runnin' freak.....do you have pics of the hids on your 4runner? how do you like them? is there any glare or hot spots?

Negative on the pics. I didn't have any glare or hot spots, and the cut off angles were good, no stray light scattered and blinding people.

I took them out a while ago, and tried to put them in and they won't stike up anymore. I don't know if the ballasts burned out, or the lamps.

Same thing happened to one of the other 3 kids that have the same package. He took them out and put them back in the box, and went to put them on his motorcycle, and they didn't work.

THe light is freaking amazing. I had the blue tint, and they lit up street signs so bright and crisp. People were flashing highbeams at signs on dark roads, while I could read them from a good distance away.

Im not sure if this has already been answered but, I have a 4300K HID kit in my 01' Tacoma and I hate the fact that they are always running (Being that the DRL's are active) I was wondering is it ok on the parking brake to pull it in 1 click when driving so my DRL's turn off, or will my brake burn up? Any hel is appreciated. Thanks.

I am sure 1 click isn't going to be a problem. Did you ever think about following the ebrake switch wire? It must go to a light relay. You can probably trick the light relay into thinking the ebrake is up. Just a thought.

That thought did cross my mind, but I was hoping there was a DRL Relay under the hood I could pull but no. Also I tried pulling the 7.5Amp fuse for my DRL but no again. Damn these infernal DRLs

did you check under the dash right above the gas pedal. on my 02 4runner, the daytime running light relay assembly is right there. you just gota cut the 2nd wire.

I had to cut the wire for my HID's (as was just said). They are since gone, but no more HID's unless I connect the wire.

My HID's would strobe from the reduced voltage of the DRL. Bad for HID.

I didnt get a kit like yours. Mine came out of a totaled Cadillac CTS-V. Mine wires directly to the battery and through some relays. No flickering for me!

Thats how mine wired up too. It was a real kit, except the bulbs were made to fit the stock location so you didn't have to hack up the whole thing.
Had the casper shield built in.

Angry DRL mod on 2000 SR5 SPORT

I did the DRL mod on my truck and I enjoy it very much, but ever since I have performed the mod, that nifty little feature that turns all the lights off upon exiting the vehicle doesn't work anymore. I have killed my battery several times since the mod due to the fact that I never before had to turn off my lights. I am getting better at it now, but would eventually like that functionality back. If anyone has any ideas for me that would be great. I still want to keep the DRL's disabled but I also want my lights to turn off when I open the door.
