Diff lock disables abs?

I just completed the diff lock mod and I just noticed the abs light stays on when the lock is on. I searched and found one person stating that whent the locker is engaged it will disable the abs system. Is this true? If it is so what is the reason?

Matt

Don't know what type of rig you have, but on my '99 4Runner Limited, V6 with the factory locker, yes, this happens.

It's because with the diff locked both wheels turn at the same speed, and the ABS system is 4 channel one senser per wheel.

Most 4WD systems disengage the ABS when in 4-low due to ABS not working so great when going down very slippery hills. The ABS can become confused at low speed if all 4 wheels are skidding and in extreme cases will not allow the vehicle to stop. The e-locker mod probably makes the computer think the vehicle is in 4-low and thus disables the ABS.

elocker mod or not, it disables ABS. mr owners manual says so. i think since abs relies on independant wheel speed, it cant control the individual rear corner's brakes since theyre locked (continuously turning at the same speed)..

Yes, if you think about it, your rig has a 4 channel ABS system, but if both rear wheels are locked together, it cant correctly judge rear wheel speeds as both rear wheels are now locked together? Going around a corner locked would set off the ABS.
