Desert Dune Pearl...Thumbs up or down?
I'm checking a 4Runner out for sale with this color, which I can't recall seeing. How do you owners "rate" this color? Does it hide dirt okay? Incidental scuffs?
Any advice appreciated!

Here it is dirty:
Here it is waxed lastweekend:

The Desert Dune hides dirt and grime very well, people would compliment how clean the 4runner is even though its dirty. When its clean, you can tell its clean!

Although I haven't owned a DDP, I've owned other pearls from different manufacturers including Toyota and Lexus. I think it's one of the best finishes going for an SUV that won't see too much abuse off-road. The pearl coat, no matter the color, looks amazing in the sun. The luminescent pearl coat just pops out at you and changes hue as you walk around the vehicle. It's an incredibly expensive process, a $5,000 option on Mercedes and Porsche cars, but just another choice from Toyota. And I'd put the Toyota quality as very, very close to those German paint jobs. Yes, it's "soft" paint and scratches easily except with the best products and hand care. But once you restore the finish to new, it's a lot easier to keep it there. DDP is the color I'd have chosen if it were available.

further,
i have a desert dune too, just like SLC's. i bought mine used and while i was looking for white, i've gotten used to DD and i'm pretty happy now. in certain light, it looks silver.
here's a good pic on my webpage from my xterra step tube mod:

Yeah, DD is a cool color. You should be happy you even have the option to buy one that color. I have the Forest Green Runner, mainly because I had no choice (dang 5 speeds!).
I would definelty change my color if the opportunity had presented itself.
