Deckplate Mod DONE!! W/Pics... I couldn't Wait...
Well I did it last night...
The parts were just mocking me sitting there next to me on my desk...
So I said Screw waiting and did the Deckplate Mod...
I have pics and the way I went about doing in I guess...
This is the Air box, out...
Yeah It's dirty...
But after a little Simple Green Max, and some elbow grease...
Here she is clean....
Now for the materials I used:
I then took the Deckplate and positioned it where I wanted it to go...
I traced an outline of there to cut with a perminent marker...
And then I cut...
Then I placed teh Deckplate in to mark holes for screw holes...
Then I took the deckplate out and put the Sensor Safe Silicone On it...
The pic is a bad bead but i fixed it up a little before I put it back on...
Then I drilled the holes...
Then I put the screws in...
And here it is in all it's glorry out side of the Runner...
And here she is in my baby...
Then she sat for a while to let the silicone dry...
She already is starting to look more powerful lol...
So there you have it...
I went to the marine parts store and picked up teh last black deckplate that they had w00t!!!!
Then the silicone came in black which was another plus!!
And the dremil sanding feature is a beautiful thing...
I went ofr a drive about 3 hours later and...
When it gets up and goes she sounds sooo lovely and i def feel a power increase!!!
After doing such and easy mod like this, I will be getting the parts for the ISR mod Thrusday When I get my paycheck....
Just a little more of a sound...

holy crap. how many pics did you take??!!?? 
congrats, but in reality, all you needed to do was to open the top of the box and leave it open until you crossed water.
however, that would have only left you w/ one pic, just like this one, but with the filter still installed....

Now to jsut wait and see moms response when we go for a drive later this week...
Though she prolly wont even notice, and if she does...

Good Mod. to do. I see you have "Deer Park" water in the background, a small city by the same name "Deer Park" is north of where I'm from.
Yes they have lot's of deer, now you know what the water your drinking consists of.. haha

Its cheap and works like a charm, sound is amazing.
AS far as the deckplate. Nice work man! and Andy dont rag on him to hard my buddy was snapping away when I did my deckplate. lol. I told him I wantd to do a write up on it, and he was takingpics as we went, I went to upload on my PC, and holy crap if there wasnt 96 of the stupid things, I just gave him this look. lol. Needless to say they are all on my PC, but not yet into a writeup cause I have to slim them down to like 4 pics. lol. (we got WAY to many on the ISR too, but I only used a few. lol)

lol... not ragging him, but more of just giving him another point of view from one of the first to do a deckplate and comparing that to what i do now.
the pics are actually very good for the people who want to do this. however, by flipping the top open, it really isn't necessary....

WOW, that was the DIRTIEST air box I've seen in awhile! LOL!
Now add a piece of window screening using a large hose clamp on the inside flange of the plate (inside the box) and you'll keep all the "chunkies" out of the box without affecting airflow.

That was really dirty...
You should have seent he OEM filter that had been in there before hand...
There was no white left on it....

When I did my deckplate, I just removed the tube that enters the box from behind the drivers side head light. No drilling needed. I did drill some drain holes in the bottom of the box.

I don't know if drilling those holes was a good idea. The box should be sealed when there's a potential of water entering, that's why you have the deck plate, so you can reseal it when crossing high water. Now there's no way to prevent water from getting into your air box. And from your avatar, it looks like you might need to keep the water out...

Yeah, you don't want to go drilling drain holes in the bottom of your airbox if you are actually crossing water or getting into deep mud.....even without I have yet to have any trouble on mine and I never put the deckplate in (winter/summer, slush/rain/snow, you name it). I think/hope Bamachem was just razzing you about all the pics when he said just leave the top open.

nice job should of put in a screen behind it ... also add a trueflow filter have you done the isr mod yet

Not me in the avatar, hence the signature.
I've driven my truck in rain, hit water puddles deep enough to throw water 15 feet on either side of me, water doesn't go into the air box. There are actually a couple of us on here that have the holes on the bottom and no problems at all.

As for the truflow
I will get that mid december when I have money...
Currently I have to do some mantinece,
Normal stuff,
Just wanna make sure the Runner is ready for Inspection next week...
Another $75 down the drain...
I miss DE where you only paind another 20 bucks and didn't have to go inspect the car for another 2 years...
PA, Every year, always around $75 dollars, Sometimes more...
The ISR mode will be done Firday along with all the other things I am doing...
I need tog et my paycheck so I can go buy the parts for it...
