Deck plate mod + True Flow kit PICS
#21
My observations (I have the exact same kit):
A) Airraid MIT is plastic, the quality of this kit is just ourageous and worth every penny.
B) This kit should not do anything to your engine at all. The sound is just un-silenced intake sound. Either you like it or not. Try resetting the ECU, cleaning the MAF and the throttle body and see if that changes things.
C) NOTE: I DON'T KNOW IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU A LOT AND SOMETHING BROKE, BUT I'LL SHARE ANYWAYS.
Do you know what a pinging engine sounds like? Well, in my case I didn't either, but since many people said it's "metal clinging" I knew what it was right when it happened. Basically, when I stomp on the gas going uphill, the engine shifts to WOT and somehow managed to pre-detonate the 87 octane I was using. This is bad. I am no expert on this stuff (even though I wanna be) so I don't know how it gets to that exactly, but it does. Right now, I am gonna try some 89 octane and then 91 octane if necessary to get rid of the problem.
Now my question is, did you ever hear such a "metal clinging" sound? Because if you did, it might've messed something up. But maybe on the other hand you are just getting used to the power.

No, No pinging. The power is just gone. I mean sometimes its so bad that now I just use my shift lever to down shift instead of stomping the gas. My truck use to be so responsive now it ignores me like my fiance. I don't need two PMS ladies....
Is there a possible vacumm hose that might do this sort of problem? what IF... this is a big what if... And I'm all ears on this, Could my Cat converter be plug up? How would I check that?

If I am on a flat surface and I gun it at 45MPH going to about 70MPH, everything is OK!
But, if I do the same thing (40->70) @ WOT going uphill, the engine will make a weird noise that sounds like quick metal clatter. I was thinking it might be some vibration causing the sound, but why doesn't it do it on a straightaway?

im not saying tht this is the problem but have you thought about getting at least a new muffler because right now your engine is getting a lot of air and trying to blow it through a little straw....if you would get some muffler or something i bet it will help out the air flow a lot which will increase power
but like i said i do not thing it will your problem but it will be a very nice increase once you find out and fix your problem

apparently, after time, the ECU 'learns' the new air amount and the extra power decreases over 2-3000 miles. try resetting your ecu and see if the power is back.

Thanks Garrett!

Update: It was a Vacumm hose that was off The heat inside the engine compartment must have made the new hoses a little lose, I installed a new hose clamp on the litle b*stard. MY POWER IS BACK!!! So happy ( doing my happy dance
