What does the "deck lamp" button do on an '85 p/u? I've messed with it to no avail...what does it do?

 

Turn it on with the truck's lights on, then step out and look at the back of the cab. If the bulb's not burnt out or missing you'll see light.

 

ahhhh....I thought that was a 3rd brake light...neat. Bulb still works!

 

It's neat, but useless if you have a shell on the back. If you don't forsee a need for it you could convert it to a 3rd brake light pretty easily, with either a red bulb or somehow dye the clear cover and just tap it into the brake light circuit.

 

Yep I have a shell. I think I am going to relocate it to inside the shell somehow. It'd be nice to have a light in there.

The deck lamp switch is to the left and below the steering column, it turns on a light behind the cab that is supposed to light up the bed (I guess lol) ...it looks exactly like a clear 3rd brake light...

 

nevermind i went out to my truck and figured it out for myself
