Dealerships....arg
Man, does anyone else hate taking their truck into a dealership for work for things you cant do youself? They never do a good job. I've always had a bad experience. I just got mine out of the shop for the axle seal(for the 5th time) and i took it somewhere else. They said the people who fixed it before beat up my axle and components w/ a hammer trying to get them apart and messed them up.

That sucks! I am always nervous about having someone work on my rig. But fortunately for me, I have found a dealership that I really like and trust - Doxon Toyota in Auburn, WA.
I don't know what I would do if someone screwed up my baby. I know I'd be pissed and frustrated! I take it you got your problem resolved?

I've never taken my truck to the dealership to have any work done, so I can't say whether or not i've ever had bad experiences with them. The Toyota Dealership that's near me is a really nice one (Toyota of Escondido) and everyone i've talked to there is very nice, and very cool, and helpful. I always buy parts from them when I need them (So far only needed a resonator
) And I also purchased my Downer HD Rear Coils from the dealership
They were $40 Cheaper than ordering from Downey or online, so I went for it
They have an awesome parts department, and everyone there is really nice, and knows what they're talking about and aren't trying to rip you off, which I really like
-Braden

I have also had good overall service from Frank Toyota here in Mile Of Cars National City.

I've been dealing with LaFontaine Toyota and Honda in Dearborn, MI, for about twenty years and have always been satisfied with their service. I go there for oil changes and everything else I can't or won't do. They're the best. If you're in the area, give 'em a try.

I always take my 93 4Runner to Pederson Toyota here in Ft. Collins, Colorado. They do excellent work and have received the Excellence Award for several years in a row. Screw going to an independent shop. I've had NOTHING but bad luck with those places with previous vehicles. Toyota stands behind their work and is concerned about their reputation. Sure it may cost more, but at least you are getting original Toyota parts and technicians that know your vehicle.

I have been extremely happy with my dealship. I bought the truck at Wallingford Toyota in Wallingford Ct.
First of all, my landlord is the business manager so I got the deal of a lifetime on both the truck and the financing. It is great to buy from someone that you know and trust. They special orderded my truck just the way I wanted it, plus they had it in three weeks.
Second. There are not too many superchargers around here. My truck gets the royal treatment in the service department. I have gotten to be buddies with the service manager, and he keeps a close eye on my rig while it is there. Everyone in the service and parts departments are in awe or all the goodies that I have put onto it.
When I call to make an appointment, I tell them that it is the supercharged double cab, and they respond "Oh, hi Noel...We will take it right now. How fast can you be here? Will you need a loaner?" This has been my experience every time.
With all the horror stories out there, it's kind of nice to have a good one to tell.

Dealer
I got my 93 4Runner used from Krebs Toyota in Pittsburgh back in 95 (only 14,000 miles on it at the time..
) I had been taking my 87 Celica GTS coupe there ever since the dealer I bought it from went out of business. Totally happy with their service. They have since moved and been bought by another dealer, so I started taking it to a local garage. BIG MISTAKE! My last visit there, they cut my rotors to the point where they were pulsing 2 days after I took it home. That got squared away. I've got to take the time to do my own stuff from now on I guess.

I have never really taken my Runner into the dealership here to many times, my family has a mechanic that we have been using since we moved here and he knows all sorts of cars inside and out, so for most things my baby goes there, it's nice having a guy that knows you and your car personaly. The few times I have had my Runner into the dealership(roof rack and rear spoiler added, mine came w/o those options when I got it) the guys in the service dept, at Modern Toyota in Winston Salem, NC have always been fair and treated me great. Now on the other hand the people at the dealership in High Point, NC have lost alot of business due to my whole family haveing terriable experiances there and letting everyone we know, know about it, hehe. So it can go both ways depending on the quality of people, but I would rather keep my truck away fromt he dealership as much as possible, and thanks to Toyota their cars and trucks don't really need to be there all that often any ways.

Well, I can't vote, but I don't like dealerships. I am all for the small garage. The guy I go to is AWESOME! He knows the family and is very kind to us. I can take him the 4Runner and have it just look at it and he will not charge us at all. I know for a fact that the dealer won't do that! I am all for the private garage! :fireman:

BTOWN4RUNNER,
Man you and I are in the same boat, I had to have my starter replaced, ym guy looked at it for free, I brought it back the next day and then he installed a new one and chaged me 15 bucks for installation, either than that all I payed for was the part($300 no joke itself) but still it's better than $200 labor change on top of things. I love good ol' hometown boys, private garages are the best(only if you can find a good buy who knows forghien cars).

Doxon Toyota!!
Posted by BTown:
Hey BTown. I came out of the grocery store a few years ago, and when I walked up to my truck, I saw it was leaking antifreeze. I was unable to tell where the leak was at, so I took it to Doxon Toyota. I had almost 100.00 dollars worth of grocerys in the truck on a hot summer day, so I was worried about that, in addition to my truck. I told the guys at Doxon what was going on (including the grocery problem). They drove my truck right in-no wait. They quickly found a hose had started to come loose, reclamped it, topped off the anti-freeze, and sent me on my way. NO CHARGE.
I have to agree with Dread. Doxon Toyota in Auburn, WA is a pretty straight shooting outfit. I have had my '89 serviced there since it was new. Always a free loaner, always fixed right.
