Dcab Vs xtra cab

Browsing the toyota site I saw that the dcab has an external width of 70.3 inches while the xtra cab has an external width of 66.7. Is that right, they're different? Maybe fender flares or something?

I just happen to have the 04 Tacoma brochure right here. Here are the width numbers:

4x4 Double Cab 70.3"
4x4 Xtra-Cab 66.5"

The same numbers apply for the 4x2 models. That is weird. Let me know if you want more info from the brochure.

too bad they aren't available in a manual tranny

auto makers typically like to exclude the best combination of options, e.g. being able to get a standard cab with a v6...i'd love that

huh?
single, x-tra, and double cab - isn't crew cab the double cab?

Steve:
Honestly, I haven't noticed any difference between my truck and xtra cabs. I was parked right next to one when I got my new tires too!

Maybe it's to make extra space for the middle seater?

I would love to get a double cab. It will probably be my next truck. I don't like the auto only option though either. Has anyone converted to a manual trans? Just wonder if the punchouts etc. are there to be drilled through like other Tacomas to mount clutch pedal. Or is the firewall on D-cabs different from Xtra-cab?
