Dash light bulb replace

Its a 99 4runner. The Drive indicator bulb is out, the others lite up. Is it possible to change the bulb with out tearing out the instrument cluster? I removed the kick panel and lots of stuff in the way, so am looking for a tip on how to change the bulb and if there is what's the bulb part number? Is it a toyota bulb?

Thanks

Welcome aboard. You'll have to pull your dash out to get to the bulbs (Mine have 3) Look at the TECH section on dash removal, I did a write up, not too hard. Good luck.

Thanks,

Not what I wanted to hear. But your response was appreciated. Getting to think Toy, has problems, with the fuel gauge thing, and other four wheel drive problems, not visible to Us, used four runner buyers. Consumers report gives high marks to these vehicles. But it seems there are hidden, annoyoing problems with the simple ˟˟˟˟. Paid Big bucks for this machine. Still don't understand how to get this thing in four wheel drive/button thing. Owners manual is not clear to Me. Do I shift the stick and then the button? Hope things clear up soon.

Anytime you get a used car you risk the chance of getting a "lemon." It is probably not Toyota's fault though, who knows how well the previous owner took care of it? I bought a used '95 and have had to put some money into it but at this point, I would bank on this lasting me for another 15 years!!!

It sounds like you have a Limited like I do. The "button" on the side of the shifter is for "all wheel drive". It's used for extra traction on the street when it's slick (rain, snow, etc). I don't ever remember pushing the button before I pull back on the stick to lock the transfer case in but normally when I'm reaching for the stick, it's more of an "oh he||, that didn't look THAT deep!" move.

When all 4 of the little "wheels" on the dash indicator turn green and the round light in the center turns yellow you are in 4 wheel drve with the transfer case locked. If the yellow indicator isn't lit, you are in all wheel drive.

Hope this helps
