Cruising @ 3300......will it hurt?

Well I have finally decided that the combination of a 3.0, 37s, and 4.88 gears simply does not do well in overdrive. So it stays off most of the time on the freeway. My question is this: At about 70 MPH with the o/d off, I'm running about 3300 RPMs. Sometimes 3500. Is this going to hurt anything other than my gas mileage? It's weird, when it shifts at 3500, it sounds like it's screaming. But once I get up to cruising speed at that RPM....it's like the engine is hardly turning at all. Anyway, will the motor survive? I don't like being in the 3000 range for extended periods. Am I just being anal? Thanks.

3500-4000 is really when toyota engines start to get loud. 3300 on the freeway should be ok.

you're engine should be able to cruise at 3300 all day long. Your gas mileage will take a hit, but the engine will be fine.

I like to cruise around 2200-2500 @ 65-70mph on the highway.

I have a 22re, but mine is stock geared such that 70mph on the highway is 3250rpm...which hasn't hurt yet, so I'd bet it's all good.

I run at about 3k at 75 ish and 3300 at 80 and havne't seen any problems yet, i even got 19mpg doing that before the motor went to hell (not because of the high revs)

I guess I shouldnt say anything about the time I went from gainesville to the tampa airport in around an hour and 15 minutes......lol

4700 something RPMs for the whole time doing 95 or so.....

That thought scares me now - but yes engine was loud but no ill effects thus far from that little extreme moment of insanity...

I have stock 4.88 gears with worn 31" mudders and at 75mph I am already turning 3k at a little over 80 I am at 33k. The engine gets a little loud, but thats it.
