crappy gas mileage with deckplate mod?

Well, better you than me (the first go around). Let us know how it works out for you. I really don't think it will cause too much trouble, just might idle a little rougher during this tank... then again maybe not. I'd be interested in knowing just for useless trivia, as we don't have inspections, and even if we did, I don't think I'd have a problem passing.

Yeah no inspections here either and so far a smoother idle than before but its hard to tell when your expecting better. You know like after you perform a mod that is performance related you expect to just feel the power and its kinda all in your head in some cases. Well thats me in a big way. Im the type to think that my engine runs smoother after I put fresh oil in and a new oil filter on/in.
