I'll take a guess...a place to mount the winch?

Dang, I give up
About time to hit the fart sack to.

Steve was close with the winch 'eh?
Man, not more shackles or recovery points.
It's to narrow of a gap to have a Hi-Lift in between there.

Lets see if this page will give me a clue.

Man, I bet this guy from the above site squeezed off a loaf when he went up in the air

Ahhhh, of all the flat bed designs, Joe's is still one of my faves.

Steve already said winch, but he did not say roller fairlead???

Unless...that drawing is just the beginning of a full out flatbed?

Light mounts?

Hey, I WAS close.

I don't see where you can fit the winch though. Are you going to take off the tailgate and sawzall the bed? Or just go flatbed?

Fairlead. I'm thinking (when I go flatbed) seperate bumper with integrated winch and the flat bed somewhat similar to Joe's old one and Jay's version.

That will be different.
You don't see to many flatbeds with a seperate bumper.

Saw this on Cascade's site, and that guy pulled it from the Snort site.

Nice clean simple style.
I don't need a tire carrier, so something clean and simple like this is nice, and I like it better than some of the round tube styles for the rear I have seen.

I was thinking about this design again, and also noticed the bar going across the bottom of the tailgate just above the main section of the bumper-- which would pretty much render the tailgate useless. Not sure what the thinking behind that is-- unless that bar is somehow easily removed??? I wouldn't want to lose the ability to fold down the tailgate.

What bar? I think you're just seeing reflections from the shape of the sheet metal in that area...

I thought it was a bar, but after further review, I guess it is just the body lines. Good call Shane-- now I'm not so confused!

Just got an email from Jim the owner of the above truck.
That shackle on the back is actually in a hitch receiver like on my rig.

I could not tell from the picture at first, but now I can see it.
Here are a few more pics of his rig from a run they went on last weekend, and I will be getting some more from Jim later.

Shane,
What prog. did you use to make that drawing?
I would like to start designing the flat-bed I'm gonna make for my truck...but it's hard to visualize (or at least to convey my idea to others).

Thanks,
Jim
