Compass in rearview mirror?

Compass in rearview mirror?
Hi all,
I have a '00 4Runner Sr5.
Noticed this morning when I went to use my compass on the rearview mirror it is just showing "C" The digital temp works fine. When I hold down the "COMP" button for a few seconds it changed from "C" to numbers and I can run the numbers from 1 thru 19.
Is my compass broke or do I need to reset it somehow?
I looked in the owners manual but didn't see anything.
