So Im wondering....is this stuff not good? I notice everyone cutting holes in their airbox...would this not be better? it would be increased airflow, obviously, but im guessing that since nobody seems to be using it, there must be something wrong with it... anyways...im new at this stuff, and my 2.7 is slow, so let me know. haha! thanks!

I thought you were posting it to sell it, and I was thinking to myself, go away troll, this isn't an advertising forum

Anyhow, I believe the consensus is airbox modification is cheaper, and by doing the deckplate mod, you can cap it to make sure water doesn't get in. Most cold air intakes take air right by the front tire, which makes the intake very low. If you do even small water crossings, you run the risk of sucking in water.

they are fine if going the srteeter route... however, that kit just is explained poorly and appears to not really have any thought in it... i would rather get one from a company that at least can BS me into thinking they are reputable....

I'm honestly confused on what to do about an intake at this point. I have always thought K&N was the way to go, then I read on Gadget's site about an intake made for the Taco or 4Runner (which would be the same) that actually lost hp when dyno tested.

He is using a modified airbox with an Amsoil filter now and gained hp. I wanted to take my airbox out, but Amsoil doesn't make a cone type filter. I guess I/we'll have to either come up with a better idea or suffer with the current options.

Dan -

Another option is to just get the K&N and add the optional "jacket" when you go off-roading. I hear the K&N cone filter system helps on the 3.0.

No no, avoid the K&N...guys seriously look at the Trueflow air filters. much the same thing as an amsoil but they make an intake that uses alot of the stock components. From what i have been reading, it's probably THE BEST, yes I said it, the best aftermarket air filter, still nothing beats OEM, and that's why I am not putting it in my Tundra. If you really desire to put a drop in or an CAI intake charger, the trueflow seems like a really excellent product and better choice. If they made one for my year Honda, I would install one in. www.trueflow.com

That you're right, but for a drop-in air filter, they do make one for the 2.7 4 cylinder, and I know the question is for a CAI, but for this instance, I really would shy away from the K&N, Airraid, and any of the other cone filters out there. This drop-in will at the very least, give you better throttle response.

I had a 90 Toy PU with the 3.0. I put in a "drop-in" K&N filter the gas milage was awesome then I did a cat back system free flow Cat and muffler. I was able to bark the truck in second.. Sometimes I wish i still had it over my 99 3.4 4Runner... But Family first... But for the 4Runners the MAF is to sketchy with the oil on them.. .
