coil packs on the valve cover?
After a several year hiatus from this site I finally got myself another Toyota. This one a 2000 Taco, 5VZ. I bought it knowing that the head gasket is blown. The symptoms are there; milky oil, white smoke, etc. After doing a bunch of reading it looks like it might be easier and cheaper to install a junk yard takeout or JDM engine in lieu of replacing the head gasket with the potential head resurfacing.
I am sort of familiar with the 3.4L engines. I did the 3.0 --> 3.4 swap previously in my 94 4Runner. But the Taco I bought does not have the coil packs on the valve cover like most of the 3.4L engines I see.. My question is does this matter? If I bought a used engine and it has the coil packs on the valve over will it work for my application?
Thanks much!
