clutch start cancel switch - malfunction??

My 5 spd 1997 4runner has been acting funny lately. It doesn't start but after pushing the clutch start cancel button a few times, it starts.....usually. 2 days ago, it wouldn't start at all. Battery is good, starter was replaced 2 years ago, had a full 120,000 mile service recently.

Any thoughts? I guess I could start by unplugging the switch and seeing what happens.

TIA

So the truck won't start by pushing the clutch down, but after using the cancel button a few times it will? If so, I would start by checking the clutch switch at the pedal...

Check the clutch pedal bracket. In some of the earlier models, the bracket would crack and need to be replaced. That could explain the intermittent nature of your problem.
