(yes, this is an old thread)

bob -

did replacing the MC (and SC?) solve you're 'groan' problems? i am absolutely sick of my noisy clutch pedal, i've tried greasing parts, putting that spring on there, replaced some cotter pin bushing, and adding 'shims' that <96 Runner> recommended in some other thread, and none of them have done anything. when you replaced the MC, what mileage did your truck have? did you do this yourself, and was it hard?

I have this groaning noise coming from the SC area. I guess I need to replace or rebuild it. I don't hear any noise coming from the MC area though?

Did any of you try changing your clutch fluid? It's worked for my 1999 so far.

My experience with the clutch master on a nissan 300Z is that it's still going strong and quiet and all I've done is change the fluid when it began groaning. It's a 1986 model. The clutch pedal feel will get a little notchy and it can start making noise when it's time to change it. All you do is loosen the drain plug on the slave cylinder and let it drain. Give it a fill, actuate the cylinders and let is drain again. Then refill.
