the button is a clutch start cancil button. Your runner is supposed to start without it just by pushing the clutch in like a normal stick. The button allows you to start your rig with out using the clutch. Just hold the button down as you turn your rig on. Make sure it's out of gear though.

ACtually you don't have to hold the button while you start. Turn on the key, punch the button once, and it will allow one start without depressing the clutch. (Even after a few minutes I've noticed.) Once the key is cycled through the start position the clutch switch is cancelled. This is a great feature on a tough trail where you killed it (Like on a STEEEEP hill) and need to get moving again but don't have 3 feet for the 3 pedals. Also came in handy once when something in my clutch broke and I had to drive to work for 3 days without using the clutch. Hell on the starter, but worked great.

There is a button above your clutch pedal that senses if your clutch is depressed or not, it could be off, crawl under and adjust the button by turning it. My button was way too far back, so even with the clutch pressed all the way, I still couldnt start my truck without pressing on the clutch cancel switch, I believe your situation is the exact opposite.
