ACtually you don't have to hold the button while you start. Turn on the key, punch the button once, and it will allow one start without depressing the clutch. (Even after a few minutes I've noticed.) Once the key is cycled through the start position the clutch switch is cancelled. This is a great feature on a tough trail where you killed it (Like on a STEEEEP hill) and need to get moving again but don't have 3 feet for the 3 pedals. Also came in handy once when something in my clutch broke and I had to drive to work for 3 days without using the clutch. Hell on the starter, but worked great.
