Clink/ping noise from right front

Clink/ping noise from right front
When I reverse direction either foward to back or back to forward I get a metalic pop/clink/ping from the right front, it sounds like a safety top on a jar of jelly being opened for the first time. What would cause this? 2002 4x4 4Runner
