Post clear corners on first gen

hey i was just curious if anyone had fitted clear corners to their first gen 4runner. mine are cracked and i would like to make it look a bit more modern buy removing the amber plastic and replaing it with clear corners. also are their more modern looking tail lights available for a first gen.

any pics would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

I saw a black 2nd gen pickup, same as your "1st gen" runner that had clear corners and clear blinkers. It was black, and looked really sharp. Its the only one I have seen though. With tail lights, I don't think there are any, you could probably retro fit some tacoma tail lights in though.

If you want to find some lights, check out *gasp* import shops, magazines, and websites. There might be some stuff there for the pickups, which should fit right into your runner.

I thought 1st gen 79-84(/85 because it has a solid axle but 2nd gen because new body style) 2nd gen was 85-88, 3rd gen 89-95, and so forth. Then the 4runners are on gen lower for each of the categories because they weren't manufactured till 85, but that was the 2nd gen pickup body style.

4Bangr I love your avatar! I wanted to buy the portrait from sky mall, it was only like $30. I am a seinfeld nut, and can't wait for the DVD.

I think you are right plays with toys. I thought the same thing before but something (I forget what) gave me a different idea. :pat: I dunno what changed my mind but i agree with you now.

Yotachuck, :wtf:

edit: What is on the Seinfeld DVD, Play? I might havta buy it.

another edit: I remember what gave me the idea that '79-88 was 1st gen. I've been shopping for lifts and they all start at 79 and go to 85, some go to '88. Guess it subconsiously wrongly convinced me! :pat:

Yotachuck, that's a pretty sweet looking truck you got there, is it yours? Anyway, welcome to the board, you know can type a little response in the box too...

4BangR, the DVD is in development right now. I don't know how many there are going to be, but its going to be all the episodes, plus outtakes and bonus features. I think seinfeld is awesome, its funny too, cuz I work in a mall, and my bosses are also seinfeld nuts, and they names their business Vandalet Inc. because that episode had just come out when they were starting up.

Yeah sorry about that. Have you found any info yet on your own?

and to clear it up, '79-'83 is 1st gen, '84-'88 is 2nd gen. there's a world of difference between the two

Kyle is correct, the gen is determined by major bodystyle changes, not what axle is under it. 4runners started in '84. EFI started in '85.
