Class of Hitch??

Class of Hitch??
I've got a '02 4Runner and don't know what my towing capacity is on my hitch. Does anyone know? Its not in my manual either.
Reason: Thinking about renting a open utility trailer from U-Haul to haul about 1 ton of mulch. Would it be a Class 1 (2,500 lbs), Class 2 (3,500 lbs) or Class 3 (5,000 lbs)?
Any help or info would be appreciated.

The towing capacity of a 2nd Gen 4Runner with a 3.0 is 3500 #. I know because I asked the salesman that question when i bought my 95 and he said 5000#. I was so pi$$ed off when I read the manual and it said 3500#, they wanted to give me my money back. I decided to keep it anyway...
And it had a 2" Reese receiver that plainly said 3500# when I went to look...
