Yeah, $800 right now, but just wait for the bidding frenzy at the end. I bet that thing ends up around $1500. In that case, get a new one for $2000.

I like the first sentence under "Details" on that link:

"Boost the performance of your Toyota truck without compromising your budget"

Yeah, right! I don't know anybody personally that 2400 bucks wouldn't compromise their budget! haha. that would amount to front and rear arb air lockers, arb compressor, regear front and rear for me.

1st vs. second

I had thought it was the other way arond, Pfdaxe, but maybe I am wrong. I heard that the first gen S/C's produced more HP but were pretty loud so they re-did it to make the 2nd gen one quieter, but sacrificed a few HP's to make it thus. I posted a thread a while back about it to get some hard facts but didn't get much. Do you have the stats?

I thought the same from some reading way back when it was due to a larger pully on the second gens or is it smaller... which ever I thought it lower boost slightly.

the pulleys on the 2nd gens are larger-- thus they have less boost. you could always change the pulley--but the casting of the 2nd gen is much nicer and lower profile and looks better.

the 1st gen's make slightly more boost because they are slightly less efficient, not because they have smaller pulleys - this is mentioned on Gadget's site. the pulleys on both are 2.37," the standard size.

both make the same HP. the 2nd gen has a lower profile and is black. the 1st gen has a seperate air plenum housing which makes drilling for water injection much easier.

i'll be selling my 2nd gen shortly. i'm buying keith's (from TTORA) 1st gen to run my water injection setup. i have all the goodies ready to go, and i'll have an extra s/c . . . .

i'm also planning on getting my supra MAF up and running on my 2000 this weekend . . . although we tried exhaustively last year to get it to work on chadd's 2000 tacoma (with no luck), we were using his AFC. the SMT has a much greater voltage gain than the AFC, so i am pretty sure i'll be the first to get it to work on a truck with the newer MAF's. if not, i'll be selling that too.
