Here is a nice document explaining the 2 for you:

It will be up front in the engine compartment near the air filter.

Nope, you don't have to clean it, unless it's obviously dirty (has mud caked on it, leaves, sticks, etc) and causing it not to make a full motion.
You can check it to make sure it is sending a good signal back to the ECM with a DVOM. Other than that I wouldn't worry about it. As long as the signal is good, smooth and clean, it should be working just fine.
I question that the AFM is your problem anyway. You probably have a vacuum leak. Check all your vacuum hoses end to end and look for anywhere more unregulatred air could be entering your system. Also, check your ignition timing. Have you messed with your primary or secondary ignition at all? How is your idle quality?
Do some more preliminary checks and get back to us.

The code 25 can be a few things:

I would also check the O2 sensor, EGR valve, TPS and all vacuum hoses.

Oh, right, the code.... how could I forget. The code tells you what is wrong. That's what I do all day at work... hook up the scanner and the car tells me what is wrong.
DUDE, I don't mean to be offensive, but you are way off base. A code is simply a starting point. You have to diagnose what is wrong, not simply throw parts at the problem.
Good luck with your uh.... repair, yeah, that's it.

alright wrench i wasnt trying to insult anyone but i have fixed a scatter toyota 22re and replaced countless 02 sensors. I was just making a lil inquiry because in my searches ive seen things about the MAF. Every sign points to a bad 02 sensor and the wire going to the sensor is burnt off by the exhaust pipe so i would say that is the problem

Squishy... you failed to mention your BURNT WIRE.
No offense taken, I just get so tired of people thinking wrenching is easy. It's all in the diagnosis. I can teach a monkey how to replace parts. What seperates a good tech from a hack tech is his/her diagnostic skills. I'm a pro, I turn wrenches every day and have for years. I see misdiagnosis all the time. I won't get into the one-upmanship thing. Good luck to you.

Ahh touche wrench i did forget to mention the wire and i agree with your whole thing about misdiagnosis. I myself am an extreme researcher and i think out my repairs probably to carefully. When I want to do a project i spend so much time trying to figure out the best and nicest way to do it that i just loose interest and sometimes dont bother to do it lol.
