My 00 limited's light came on. Right after an oil change so I thought it might have been a hose they bumped in on the airbox but its not that.

Now today its starting to guzzle gas.

I'm 130 miles from home and my mechanic. Any suggestions for what I can do?

I'm working in West Yellowstone so the mechanics up here charge an arm and a leg. I'm just trying to avoid paying an buttload of money.

 

The most common reason for the P0171 code is a dirty maf. I just sprayed mine down the other day and the check engine light (same code) went off by itself. I'm in Bozeman and the dust has been crazy bad with the dry air and smoke. Electronic parts cleaner sprayed down the tube of the maf should do the trick. 10mm wrench and a stubby screwdriver is all you need.
