Thanks to all for this helpful info. The only thing I can say is, why not just buy some Autozone or other cheap drums while you're at it? Grinding off that lip cost more in your time than new drums (I tell my wife that my mechanic time is worth 95/hr). Mortrhedx81 is right, drum brakes should have gone out with hand crank starters.
