Can someone confirm: 96-98 4Runners Had Longer Stock Bumpstops

Can anyone confirm that the 1996-1998 4Runners (Pre Recall) came with longer rear bumpstops than those of later 4runners?

I am going to go to the FZJ80 coils and shocks for the rear and am thinking I might not need to lower my bumpstops since i never had the recall done - i'm thinking I have longer bumpstops than other stock 4runners. I'll post some pics later when i get home.

Thank Tofer for the post of the online manuals in the off-topic section!

This recall was only for the runners 98' and down so i would presume so that the new ones have shorter bump stops...

Sweet! This is what I needed - and as I suspected I do have a longer bumpstop...

Looked at my moms 99, has a short bumpstop and a cone in the coil, Mine had a cone in the coils and a slightly longer bumpstop, Doesnt look as long as the SS bumpstop with the extension. it did have the little air holes in it too.

Really, all you need to do is make sure that the axle hits the bumpstop and stops just before the shock bottoms out.

If your 96 had the cone in the coil - it had the recall done to it - that was a part of the recall. Here's a pic of my unrecalled 97 bumpstop - and with my current rear lift as yuo can see - I don't have near the space between bumpstop and axle as newer stock bumpstops.
