So I have the truck all back together now, but it is not starting. All the basics are there, and I am thinking it is a timing issue. I did have to pull the timming gear off and put on a new belt, but i cant imagine the cams or crank getting turned durring the the whole deal.
Any ideas on how to make sure its all lined up ?

That sucks! I am sorry your truck is giving you problems. If I had seen this earlier I might have been able to give a hand this week, but now I am going back up to Ft Collins...
I too am suffering with my yota. When it broke down on me last, I think I may have misjudged the problem. I thought it was timing, but it might be a blown headgasket.... Oil isn't disappearing, but my truck has been getting hot around town and when I pour more antifreeze in, it looks like a thin layer of sudsy milkiness.... I hope you can get it sorted.

Made some progress today, my timming was way off, one cam was about 15 minutes off from the other ( if you think of the cam as a clock ) I put her back together and she started up like a champ, but one it kick into low idle it keeps dying. It might be part of the cold, but i could use a timming light to get this working right. It will ilde a little better with the clutch in that out ( in neutral ) so that seems kinda weird
the other concern is the oil pressure guage isnt moving, but I havent had it running long enough to get her really primed or warmed up i think.
and Rivalred, there are some really great people here that went way out of their way to help me a lot and I owe them a huge thanks.

Hey jake, I know how that life thing happens
however I think I have some serious problems now. the feeling that something is really bad. I brought the oil pressure up and gave it a start it ran for a few secs than died hard, like suddenly. I tried again and it turned over slowly and now all you hear is the starter click but nothing turns. I can not even turn it over by the crank, however i can just barely get an open end wrench on it. .

Man i am so strung out and fustrated. That thing fired up and was doing great for a whole minute. I am really at a lost, ive done all i can really and then some. I am now fearing that the sudden oil problem may have been related to a more serious problem down the line, thinking back i noticed preformance and gas milage lost but thought it was altitude and was more concerned about the oil to notice or care.
I am not sure what my next move is, I am out of time and money * both of which I didnt really have to begin with
oh well i gotta sleep. Please give me a call if you have any ideas * see first post for number.

Well it is looking like the engine is just plain toasted... I am having it towed now to a shop down the road that brandi recomended just to check out. I might need someone to take it off my hands cheap if anyone needs a well lubed parts truck.
