Does anyone know if the Limited's digital A/C controls would work in an SR5?

 

I don't know what year you are talking about, but I thought I'd ramble a bit. Take it for what it's worth.

I've been contemplating the same thing ever since I got my 2000 Maxima that has a great digital automatic climate control.

Here's what I've learned from having my old Celica apart about a zillion times. On any HVAC controls that have the cable operated levers (1st & 2nd Gen and some years of 3rd Gen I think), making this switch would require using the entire air handler with it. The air handler is that huge box behind the radio, HVAC controls, ashtray, etc. This is due to the auto climate control using servos (mini electric motors) to move the dampers and control the fan rheostat when you press a button or adjust the temperature. Keep in mind, this is only my educated guess.

I really want to do this mod to my 2nd Gen. Does anyone know if the 2nd Gen Limited (94 or 95) offer an automatic climate control?

The other thing I really want is a digital thermometer that reads the outside temp. I've only found a replacement rearview mirror with temp and compass. Check out the site.

 

I have a 2000 Sr5, and would like to change over. Does anyone know what this would cost?

 

It will cost you about $1,500 in parts, and it's virtually impossible to do in the 4Runner.
