Buying Limited or Loaded Sport??

I originally thought i was going to go for the Limited with the navigation, but the more I look at a fully loaded Sport model, it seems that I would be better off with that route.
I was going to put the sport hood(which would cost me) on the Limited, and then black everything out on the truck (side skirts, aftermarket wheels, roof rack, anything silver/chrome)
But looking at the Sport it seems that I can get nearly everything I wanted on the Limited optioned on the Sport Edition for a cheaper price?
Things I really want on the 4Runner are leather power seats, color matched fender flares, Nav. system (not a must), and hood scoop.
What would I be "missing" if I got the sport edition loaded, vs Limited? It just doesn't seem that you get over $4,000 worth of extras with the Limited compared to the Sport Edition? What am I missing
Thnks
am I making this more difficult than it is?

The '03 Sport does not have color-keyed flares -- it has the gray cladding. The new appearance package is for SR5's only.

It also won't have the heated power leather seats, although you can get manual power seats as an option.

There are some other more minor things, but I didn't think it was worth the difference either (actually, the Finance Minister didn't think so, either).

I have looked at the '03 4runner brochure, toyota web site, and tried to look up options on other sites (carsdirect), and I honestly don't understand why the Limited base price starts out almost $4,500 more than the Sport and you don't even get the X-REAS suspension??? I would think buying the Limited would give you ever option of the lower models plus some but it seems that the $4,500 (+ another $400 for X-REAS) gets you heated leather seats, dual climate control, color coded fender flares, and a couple small add ons. Well I guess I am talking myself out of the Limited. Thanks for letting me vent a little.

s424runner:

Things to consider. Are you planning to lift it? (and offroad after lifting it?)

If you answer YES to the lift... then get the sr5.

Why you ask? well cuz if you get the sports (w/ xreas) or the limited (that comes w/ xreas and option of rear height) then when you lift it, all that will come off... hence waste of $$$...

If you don't plan to lift it... then just get the one you want!!!

I'd say sports one is cool, I would have gotten it if I had the extra $$ but the 17" RIMS didn't work w/ me as I knew that i'd put some bigger booggers! (tires) so I'd need 16" rims and I believe the brake calipers are way too big for the 16" (means I can't fit 16...) 17" rim w/ MT tires will be hard to find unfortunately...

SO just think about what you plan to do w/ your 4runner and assess what needs to be done...

gl and make sure u get a yota and not a ford! hehe

Good Times, we've had similar posts on the forums, and you're exactly right again -- figure out what you need it for, what you want on it, and what you can afford. Then just buy it.

Thanks for the comments Good Times/Jharris2
Not planning on doing any suspension changes, mostly road driving with couple weekends a year off road. Just trying to get the best SUV for my money, and reviewing all my options. Well, I will post what I end up getting. It will be a toyota though. Anyone want to buy a 2001 Audi S4?

I got my sport with just about everything I wanted. It has gray leather, lighted runing boards and 18" wheels. I had thought about a limited but I really didn't need the Nav system. I seemed more like a toy than I wanted to pay for. i have a map already. Plus the scoop is cool.

Would you mind letting me know what you paid for your Sport Edition (you can emial me), and what other option you have on it? And one more question, did you have to order it or did you find one like that?
TIA

I think I paid 32k for it. The dealership had it like this on the lot. As far as the options:
- leather
- lighted running boards
- 18" wheels with Kuhmo tires
- premium sound systems with 10 speakers
- spoiler isn't on yet, but will be.

I think those are all the options it has that would be upgrades

V6 or V8?

I think I can get a Limited with everything on it for around 500 over Invoice. Would that be a good deal??

Nice looking truck. Do you think the 18" make the ride any firmer? I am going to get some wheels and I learning towards 17's, but thinking about the 18's as well.

I think they make it a little more firm....actually I wouldn't say firm, porbably more stable. Since there isn't as much sidewall, they don't flex as much which gives it great handling on the road. My truck won't really see anything more than a dirt road. If you go back to the link, you will see I have already lived my off-road days........and paid my dues, literally.
