To buy or not to buy? That is the Question!

Ok guys/gals....
There's a small used car dealer here in town that I noticed had a 92
4-Runner with an unknown amount of miles (the spedometer/odometer is broken.) I'm going to list the problems I found while test driving today & I'd like some opinions on if it's worth it or not...here goes:
Everything inside works: A/C, Heat, all lights, power locks, power windows even the back window. The odometer reads 9756. The spedometer doesn't work. It looked like it might have been smoking a little right when I first left the lot. And to top these little guys off, the check engine light came on when I was going 60 down the freeway. Everything else seems to be in pretty good shape. Gets up & goes pretty good from a dead stop. Brakes will stop me on a dime. THe dealer is asking $3950. The Kelly Blue Book value of the 4-runner is around $5k but without the known mileage, it's hard to be accurate. What do you folks think?
FRED!
ps Oh yeah! It has the 3VZ & it IS 4wd.

Agreed. Not like there aren't about 350,000 others out there. Don't buy yourself problems.

if you do have to have it, there's only a few things inline to causing a speedometer to fail on that year. just the gauge itself, the speedometer cable, or the speedometer gear in the transfer case.
