Brush Guard Problem

I have a '98 4Runner Limited and i have a Go Rhino brush guard. It came with optional mounts that you screw into the front of the bumper. I wouln't use those because I am not going to screw into the front of my bumper. But, the poblem is the brush guard vibrates and moves side to side without additional support. If anyone knows of a way to fix this, please help.

David

I had a Smittybilt grille guard on my 92 that required the same two holes tapped into the bumper. I didn't want to drill in to the bumper so I made a couple brackets to go under the grille and behind the bumper to bolt to the frame. I had to remove the grill, which was a pain on the 92, far easier on my 96. It worked really well, but I still had a lot of "play". So, I went back to the hardware store, bought two more lengths of steel and made an "x" across the previous two brackets. The whole bracket assembly looked like this:
FRAME
\ /
\ /
X
/ \
/ \
GRILL GUARD
The added "x" made it far more rigid and eliminated almost all the the "play"

LOL...no prob. dude! David, the only thing that I can say is that they sent them for a reason and that proabably was the reason. You might want to consider putting it on, and I am sure that it will help that problem! Goodluck! :fireman:

True. Go for it! I have seen the Go Rhino guards and they are cool. I mean what good is it if it wobbles to and fro? :fireman:

Yeah, i think i will just try and make some kind of bracket. I noticed some kind of holes underneath my bumper. So, I figure i can make a bracket that i can screw into those. It shoulndn't take a whole lot to completely secure it. It doesn't move at all forward and backwards, just side to side.
