she was wondering how much a replacement window would be? does anyone have a price estimate on how much it would be?

file with your insurance ... I don't know what her deductible is. But this is a no fault claim, so insurance will not increase.

They usually compensate for the window, and having the car cleaned. So the money to have the car cleaned can be used toward the deductible.

If the cost of glass & replacement is resonable (ie <$250), I'd just pay myself. Many time glass places quote one rate for insurance and other for cash business.

Why would I do this??? Insurance companies are looking for any reason to drop customers or increase the premiums. It is ridiculous that we've (society, government, ect...) has allowed insurance companies to penalize people who actually use their policy. Hell, I got a 25% increase in premiums when I filed a claim but never collected on it. Naturally, State Farm claims that the increase had nothing to do with the non-paid claim.

Just my two cents.

My experience has been different. I filed with State Farm when I had a cracked windshield .. they gave me the money for a new windshield and they even offered to set up a shop to drive out to my house and fix it. I declined b/c I knew I could find someone to do it for less then the $100 deductible I had. I did, I found someone who would do it for $50 + the insurance check.

As far as insurance rates going up .. I think over the last year or so rates have just gone up in general. Its outrageous I agree with you .. but what can you do?
