I have a 97 4 runner limited 4x4 the cam gear below the key lock cylinder in the ignition has broken off inside the little key hole at the very bottom.. It's turned to the ACC position and I cannot get it out... It needs to be turned back to line up with the slot. Any ideas.? Can this even be replaced? Toyota wants $300 for a whole new ignition.. I cannot find any info online about this problem. Car won't start.. Luckily it broke in my garage in the ACC position. I will try to post a pic of the part that's broke.. Not my part but a pic I found online.. Any help would be OUTSTANDING.. I'm at my wits end trying to repair it.

 

Remove the ignition switch

get a used one

have lock rekeyed to your key done!!

Remove ignition switch take to good automotive lock smith have repaired.

another one replace the complete steering column have ignition rekeyed to your vehicle

All options should come in well below the cost of new.
