Breaking in your new front brakes......fact or fiction

Hey Everyone,
I'm just getting ready to install new brembo rotors, OEM stealer pads and new fluid on my 99 runner.
In my search of this forum I read an article regarding the proper technique to break in or seat my new 1,000 dollar pads with my rotors. Anyone know the exact price from the stealer? ....ha ha

Has anyone done this and if so , what were the results and how are they wearing ?

I break pads in every time I do brakes...basically do several stops at increasing MPH,couple at 20,couple at 40,couple at 50..then back down couple at 40,couple at 40,couple at 30...should be good to go..try not to overheat the brakes,or have the ABS kick in.

Yes, always brake in new break pads. I use the procedure in this link, best done on a nice quite flat road.

Just remember to not come to a stop with the pads pressed against the rotors, and let the brakes cool down completely afterwards. After the 4th or 5th stop you'll get this lovely stench and some smoke.

don't forget to degrease your new rotors with brake cleaner before installing pads.

Whoa! I though that was a typo till I saw you put the comma in there . . . what kind of brake pads are you running?

I don't find they're much more than the cheap ones from any parts store. And having owned and worked on vehicles for over 30 years I've found the OEM pads are usually the quietest.
