Bolt-On Swing Out Complete
#21
Ugh! Drop downs! I urge anyone not to buy them. I go into the back way too often, and dropping them up and down is a royal pain in the arse!! If you dont go back there often then it would be OK

Very nice work. Looks great. Minus points for not buying the plasma cutter before starting! Isn't one of the main benefits of doing new projects all the fun tools that you get to buy because you just **absolutely need them** to get the project done?

$6.98 from Lowes. Fabricated a little bracket that slides over the backside of the license plate bolts. Tapped into the parking light wire of the passenger side tail light. Do I expect it to illuminate the plate well? Not really, but it's legal

Swing-out performed flawlessly through 6 days of Death Valley roads; just as solid as the day she was built. For those of you who've been there, Saline Valley Road defines deep washboard, and most other backroads are a loose rock base. The license plate light shorted out my tail light fuse at one point, I think the wire rubbed against a body mount (didn't do a great job buffering apparently.)

It even holds steady when dropping a 3rd next to a gas station
. Watch out for those rocks buried in gravel, they seem to grow in size when you knick the top of them!
I'll get you those pics Brian, don't give up hope.
