block heater

Has anyone ever used one of those little magnetic block heaters? I'm having trouble getting started some mornings, and I'm wondering if it might help.

It does help but do not leave it plugged in all night, I used a block heater for the first time last year and left it plugged in all night. My electric bill was 100 over what I usually pay for. Just use a timer, for a couple hours before you start your car.

another idea (and doesn't draw as much power) is a Heater blanket, you can buy them for around the battery and they plug in to keep the battery warm. I use one and it works great.

My battery is strong and the starter turns fine (although I think I'm wearing it out turning it over so much before it starts), seems more like I need the heat on the engine itself. Good to know it doesn't need to be on the whole night, and I'm glad I didn't find out the way you did. Thanks.
